انتظار

رات گہری تھی
سمندر سے بھی
رازوں سے بھی
اپنے آپ سے بھی
گھونسلے سے جب اڑی تھی
ایک چڑیا
اِک پرانی نیند میں
انجان دوری کے علاقوں کی طرف
جس نے کہا تھا
آندھیاں آئیں
یا برسیں بارشیں
لمحہ لگے
چاہے لگے صدیاں
مِرا وعدہ ہے
مُجھ کو لوٹ کر آنا ہے
اِک سچی خبر بن کر
خبر آئی نہیں
اکثر خیالِ رفتگاں کی بدلیوں میں
صبحِ کاذب سے ذرا پہلے
چمکتا ہے ستارہ
اِک قدیم افسوس کا

انتظار

Wait

The night was deep
deeper than the ocean
deeper than the secrets
deeper than itself

When a sparrow flew out of its nest
deep in an ancient slumber
towards the regions across the unknown expanses

The one who had said,
‘be it a dust storm
or a torrential rain;
if it takes a while
or a few centuries;
It is my promise
I’ll get back
like a news true to the core’

The news didn’t come
Amidst the dark clouds of reflections of the departed
just before the break of dawn
a star twinkles
of an old regret
